body of work
I am devoted to honoring movements' ability to connect - self to body, body to peoples, peoples to their communities, communities to conversations - the list goes on and on. My kinetic and creative practice offers me the opportunity to explore this idea through embodied presence and research.
I have been investigating how to create bridges between myself and those around me. I have found that, as both a performer and choreographer, I am interested in crafting specific atmospheres that can collectively transport audiences. To do this, I call on my background of theatrics and community engagement, implementing prop work, text, audience interaction, and the inclusion of relevant human experiences found in the past and current state of our world.
It is a value of mine to make movement feel accessible to anyone who interacts with it, so it is a part of my choreographic process to consider that my audience may be greatly diverse in their perspectives and experiences of life. In order to engage audiences filled with ever-varying identities, it is important that I produce work alongside a diverse group of individuals. This is where my fervent desire for collaboration in the studio stems.
Through this framework, I create fresh, original dance work and perform with an intention characterized by empathetic and humorous storytelling, rigorous physicality, attention to detail, and human quality of expression.
