A three part site specific work in the Courtyard of the Pollock Building that asks: how do we engage in the process of exchanging, cycling or wasting clothes? This work investigated these questions by looking at global markets and how clothes are exchanged/ handled cross culturally. re- [form:purpose:define] included an audience interactive "street market/garage sale/fashion show" performance to explore these ideas.
The ways the choreography handles clothes are intertwined with their Venezuelan identity and yet, became transgressive behaviours when confronted by the United States' consumeristic customs. They have bargained for clothes at street markets. They have left clothes on a clothesline. They have held onto clothes, because the fabric can be used as a rag or sewn into another garment. Do these methods of handling bring more value, purpose and care into clothing?
